These are being used to capture the audio for band rehearsal videos, so this might not be the typical use case, however the wireless ability to remotely transmit audio to a receiver attached to a camera without running cables (apart from the audio cable from the receiver to the camera) is a very appealing factor.The first time using the BOYAMIC 2 the results were very disappointing: it is very easy to activate the noise cancelling feature with just a slight press of a button on the side of each transmitter. Enabling noise cancelling on one transmitter immediately activates noise cancelling on the other transmitter and the quality of the captured audio might not be what you were expecting. Fortunately, you can lock the transmitters so that they can only be powered off and on with all other settings such as activating the noise cancellation set on the receiver.When removing the transmitters and the receiver from their charging case, the devices turn on. At first this was a concern regarding battery life as the transmitters can only be turned on or off from the transmitters themselves (there is no way to remotely power on/off the transmitters from the receiver). However, the quoted battery life of 9 hours for the transmitters quells battery life anxieties.Perhaps a neat feature which does not seem to appear in the user manual is you can remotely trigger each transmitter via the receiver to record 32-Bit audio on their own internal storage. At first I thought this would be a great feature to capture the dynamics of a live rock band playing, however, in practice, if using these transmitters to capture audio for a video then it is best to capture the audio on the camera via the 3.5 mm Audio Output on the receiver so that the audio is in sync with the video.Overall audio quality is OK – again, capturing a band performance is perhaps not what these were designed for – but another possibility which I intend to explore is plugging in dynamic microphones into the 3.5 mm TRS Inputs on each receiver to see whether that produces a warmer sound.And, finally, the receiver mounts fine on a camera hot shoe, however it requires a little bit of tape on the bottom if placing on a cold shoe mount.

Fantastic mic. Really great sound. Great range. And works like it should with no interference. I also have the smaller BOYA mics, and I prefer this one much more for sound quality. I also love that this one has a magnetic attachment so it can easily be attached to any clothes. I use the fur wind screen and wear it behind my shirt so it is invisible to the camera. The audio quality is great for youtube videos for clear and full sound. WHile blocking out a lot of the background noise.
