Item: BOYA Compact Mdl. BY-XM6 K2 Wireless Mic SetPrice: $200.00 at time of review 12 10 22ABOUT THIS ITEM…..Owning a number of Amazon sourced wireless microphone sets, I tend to categorize them as budget, advanced-budget or prosumer. I’ve found that with most of the prosumer wireless mic systems I have, their performance is adequate for my personal and my business-supporting videos. In my opinion, this Boya Mdl. BY-XM6 K2 wireless mic set is definitely at the prosumer level.WHAT YOU GET…..Consistent with a more complete prosumer wireless mic set, you’ll find…• Two compact transmitters (Tx) and One compact receiver (Rx)• Hard plastic ‘Storage and Charging’ case with 4-LED battery status display• Cables: TRS to TRS for DSLR/Cameras & TRS to TRRS for Cells/Laptop recordings• 2x Lapel Mics to plug into your transmitters w-2x lapel clips & 2x foam percussive-filters• 2x ‘Rabbit’s Foot’ (wind filters/snap-on) for your transmitters if not using lapel mics• Nice fabric carrying-satchel for all the accessories above with room to spare• Manufacturer’s 2-year WarrantyFEATURES & BENEFITS…..(things that stood out for me)Two transmitters allow for multiple subject interviews and inclusion of ambient audio || Hard case with internal battery can charge independent of power; longer recording sessions || Transmitters can be used without lapel mics for wire-free attachment || Manufacturer’s 2-yr warranty included; most others require extended coverage ||TESTING THE ITEM…..Interior Environment: Using my A6400 for video-recording, the results and audio was good. My daily use wireless system has a bit more treble. But if not a side by side comparison, I’d say this would pass a very good given its mello mid-range voice audio. Overall, interior use was very good. Pairing was immediate and the ability to adjust the audio gain at the Tx and Rx was very helpful.Outdoor Environment: In my video, you'll see my distance and audio quality test in a sports park area. Results were very good for audio quality. And for distance, at true 'line of sight' I'm pretty sure this system could transmit the distance of a football field; 300-feet. Having the lapel mic clipped to the chest, when turning my back to the camera and receiver, audio dropped out rather quickly at 50-feet or so.PRICE-POINT, VALUE & OVERALL OPINION…..Currently on the vendor’s Amazon page, I found a fair assortment of similar double-Tx’er sets. Interestingly, and at the current Boya price point for the BY-XM6 K2, I found that those sets that were slightly less in cost also showed a lower transmit-to-receiver distance, or a missing feature found in the Boya. This Boya set has what I believe are similar design features I’ve reviewed in other Boya system configurations. And all of those units tested well, which gave me greater confidence in my positive opinion of how this Boya system tested. As with many prosumer wireless systems, I’m more swayed by my confidence in the brand and experience with both the review-item and similar systems with which I’m familiar. Given that and the current and very appropriate price point, I felt this Boya system presented a very-good value; worth 5-stars.
