I had to charge the microphones, but other than that, the product works right out of the box. It comes with a cute little carrying bag that can easily fit in a purse or computer bag. The instructions with the package are just pictures, but they suffice to show how to use it. There's a QR code where you can go to request a download of a more comprehensive manual, you have to give your email address and agree to marketing emails, but those are easy to unsubscribe from. The manual came to me in a few seconds, and it does provide more information, but it's not necessary to get started with the microphone.I put the transmitter in my phone charging port, clipped one of the microphones to my shirt, started voice memo recording, and set the phone down. I walked over to the door, about 8 feet away, and whispered softly into the microphone. When I played the sound back, it was perfectly clear and audible! I was impressed with the sound quality, not just that I could hear it, but that it was SO clear and precise. I didn't try it out in the wind, but the microphones do have foam over the input, so it should have some wind noise reduction. There are a couple of things I wish were different. I use an OtterBox on my phones because, well, I drop them. I have to take the whole OtterBox off the phone to use the microphone transmitter. The other thing is that the charging case only has space for one transmitter, either the lightning jack or the USB-C jack. The other one fits in the little bag, but it would be nice for both of them to fit in the case, even though you're probably only ever going to need one or the other, never both at the same time. I just like to keep everything together. The bottom line is that, for the price, this is a great little portable microphone for vlogs or simple videos. If you're not sure how deep you want to go into the price hole, you can get started with this and make that decision later.
